Hey fellas I’ve looked all over the forums for an answer but here’s my question I’ve got a 77 25hp that’s been monkeyed with by me and the previous owner who had no clue what he was doing. The throttle maxes out before the timing plate can hit the spark advance stop screw while not running I don’t think the running part makes a difference?

There is a thin metal rod from the carburetor to the back of the engine.-----Move the stop on that rod about 3/8" towards the carburetor.-----Report what you find.-----Note ---that adjustment looks wrong , when in fact it is correct.-----Many mistakes made on that adjustment.

Now it gets there or very close to it however the throttle cam does not move back in between the marks. I’m at a loss I thought the the cam was supposed to slightly open between the marks.
