1977 evinrude 15 hp no spark

picked this engine up , good compression , good shape just no spark I read this was the first year for the electronic ignition , wondering if I can get a expert to comment on testing ignition system and should I go right to power pack ? I did disconnect kill switch , no luck still no spark

disconnect kill switch, just cut one of the wires leading to or from the switch. I agree if no spark to either cylinder then power pack.

Well, maybe it is the power pack, and maybe it isn't. Throwing parts at it until you get lucky, without testing anything, is one way of fixing it. It could have a bad charge coil/wires/connections. Or a bad sensor/wires/connections. Or a bad coil.
