1977 Evinrude 135 Sputtering Idle

Hi everyone, new to the forum. I have a 77 Evinrude 135 that I bought that was sitting for awhile. I checked compression which was 150ish across all 4 (I suspect a rebuild by previous owner for being that high). It was sitting for a while so I cleaned out all the carbs. At idle it is doesn't run right. It is sputtering and when you give it a little throttle it dies. I will attach a video shortly. It did have spark so I'm not sure what is up with it. Could it be a timing issue. it seems to be sneezing and it dies. (Carbs were cleaned out properly with air and were soaked and went through all the small passageways).

I am struggling to post the video but when the high speed lever is put up it revs then drops then revs again then it coughs out and stops suddenly

Not sure but it is the one that is gold on top with with white sides with the blue stripe that says evinrude 135.

It has the one in the front between the V. I suspect a power pack issue.

Gas is fresh, all butterflies are closed

Senior moment ----The 77 Johnson models were whiite.----A 77 Evinrude would also be a 140 model.----Put a timing light on each lead.----Observe the spark.-----Will help determine if it is an ignition issue or not.----Is the model # a secret ?------Sounds like throttle plates may be opening too early.----That usually makes them stall out on throttle up.

Are you using the correct champion plugs? Is the motor coming to correct temperature?

The previous owner put NGKs instead so i will replace them. The engine gets warm, unsure if it is correct or not.

I don't have the engine near me right not, its at my lake house but I will put the correct champion plugs in instead of the NGKs
