1977 77hp Johnson outboard, audible alarm problems

NoIdea

New member
I just boat this boat and took it out today. I flooded the engine and ran the cranking battery down. Switched the cables to the trolling battery, once I started to switch the cables back to the cranking battery. As I took off the positive cable the audible alarm come on and now once i engage the key it comes on even if the motor is not running. Any ideas where I can start trouble shooting?

Your post is all mixed up no 77 hp for a start, secondly if you remove the + nothing will work . and 3rdly it makes sense that once the + and - are connected to the battery and the key turned to the 1st stage and the alarm sounds its telling you the positive which is a brown wire is touching some where on the motor disconnect the brown wire from the heat sensor and the alarm will stop find the fault fix it and put the wire back.
