I have removed the lower and replaced the impeller one my 50 hp 2-stroke Thunderbolt. Apparently I have moved the shift shaft and now I'm having trouble getting the shift shaft aligned for proper shifting from forward to neutral to reverse. I had the lower reinstalled but couldn't get to shift gears...tried to get it into neutral and it remained in reverse when turning the prop by hand. I have now removed the lower again and I'm having trouble getting it in & out of gear(s). I am using a 1/4" wrench to GENTLY move the shift shaft while slowly moving the prop. I did manage to get it into neutral at one point but my main issue is aligning the Reverse Lock Cam onto the 1/4" square shift shaft, once I get it into FORWARD for reassembly. I do have a photo of the Cam, in the position it was in, when I pulled the lower off in the first place, when I had the unit in FORWARD. Should I continue to play with the prop while moving the shift shaft, get it into FORWARD and then place the Lock Cam in the position it was in when I removed the lower...or...??? I think I really need help with getting the lower into FORWARD gear so I can proceed...thanks in advance for any help...
