1976 johnson 15horse slips in forward

"i have a 76 15 horse johnson,

"i have a 76 15 horse johnson, when i put it in forward it wont hardly go. in reverse it catches just fine. when i turn the prop by hand i cant feel any thing wrong, it catches and there is a little play. when i put it in the water the prop seems to be turning much slower than the engine. dose anyone know what can be causing this? thank you"

Spun hub? Will probably drive

Spun hub? Will probably drive at slow speed but slip when the power it increased.

Mark across the end of the prop shaft and the prop with a water proof marker. Go for a short spin. If the marks on the prop no longer line up with the mark across the shaft it's a spun prop. Off to the prop repairers!
