1976 evinrude 40 hp trouble starting

I bought this motor from a friend with the boat trying to get started had running found out the hard way someone rigged the rectifier and all the wires fried on engine and stator replaced all wire new rectifier new stator then starter went bad replaced rebuilt carb had running rough shut off engine after getting to idle for a while now not starting its not getting any spark everything looks fine ignition coil and points any suggestions of the problem

I am not by it now but I am pretty sure it is 4655

40655 would be the model.--------I would start with pulling the flywheel.----------Clean and set the points, a " no cost " first aid procedure.

I cleaned the points off when putting the fly wheel back on noticed the woodruff key was worn replaced and the motor started right up twice then nothing took flywheel back off the new woodruff key sheared off now a new problem get the key out of shaft do they make stronger woodruff keys I wonder

It may not be a standard " woodruff key "------------- see a dealer and get the correct factory part !
