"I think I may have diagnosed my problem, need confirmation. The motor will only start well at full throttle. As per what I gleaned in the archives I tested the coil with ohmeter between spark plug boot and ground and got no reading. Coil ground to block is good and there is continuity between black and blue wires out of the coils. My reasoning is that at high speed the week coils are producing enough of a spark, idle down and they crap out. Does this make any sense to anyone?? Thanks...Dan"

"if they are cracked,repl...if ,when doing ur ohm's tests,u have no continuity,thru plug wire,..pull the boot off,pull spring doohickey off,snip rubber back about 1/8 inch,fold it over,reinst spr doohickey,..lube boot reinst,...before putting the boot on,u may want to ck the wire alone,for cont,....thru coil...none,..repl it."

"ok, i checked and found out top coil was bad, bought and installed new one. Points are set and good, new crankshaft key, properly torqued. I am still having the same problem, it will only start at mid to WOT and dies out below that. It seems as if there is not enough fuel being supplied to the low idle circuit. The carb was rebuilt at a marina a few years back and it hasn't been in the water since, is it possible something was left out?"
