1976 85 HP Johnson Powerhead Rod Bearings

Does the 1976 85 hp Johnson have caged rod bearings or are they loose? If they are loose, anyone have any advice in taking them out and replacing them?

Loose rollers in cages. Just don't lose any when you take it apart. Hold them in place with Vasilene when reinstalling. Absolute must that you use a torque wrench to tighten rod bolts to spec. Takes a 12 point thin wall socket, of high quality. Inferior ones will break. Sometimes expensive ones do too.
