I have a 1976 25 HP electric start that I am going to be using the tiller and pull start. I don’t have the wiring harness for this motor and have no need for it except the kill switch aspect of it. Is it possible or even a good idea to build a kill switch for this motor using a toggle switch of some sort? I have found out that the two top prongs of the wiring harness does kill the motor if the circuit is complete but I am not sure this is a good idea or not. Has anybody done this or have a way of building a kill switch without purchasing a wiring harness and controls? Thanks!

The shorting switch normally fitted SEE HERE is push button that shorts the two sets of points together.

If might be a sensible idea to fit a proper kill switch with a safety lanyard.

Can you confirm that the top two prongs are the correct ones or is there a diagram that will tell me that? Thanks.
