Just purchase 2 merc 20hp to make an attempt at having one good one when Im done. 1st question is I want to hook up the starter on it. Per the manual diagram the battery has to be grounded and a lead goes to the solenoid. What do I ground the battery to? Im assuming the starter itself is grounded to the motor casing! Second question is the plug on the side that the harness plug into, is it needed? Im using this as a tiller steer but want to have a key switch for the starter. Will this engine run without me getting a harness to plug into it and making it hot from the battery? Hope that made sense. any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanx ya all.
