1976-1985 Johnson 70hp connecting rod

Here's the problem. I have a 1975 Johnson 70hp that threw a piston ring resulting in us having to have it board. So I ordered over sized pistons. Come to find out the pistons are for a 1976+ so the wrist pins are different and the bearing wont fit. 20% restocking fee to return them. What I'm looking to find out is what the inner diameter of the connecting rod for the 1976-85 is where the wrist pin goes through? What I'm hoping is that its the same as my 1975 connecting rod so that I can just get the 1976-85 wrist pin bearing as new ones as we plan to replace them anyway. I have looked to see if they are the same part number but they are not.

You probably have the original lightweight connecting rod in your motor ,you need the parts for that rod. You may be able to upgrade the rod to the newer style but you will have to do some research to make sure that will work. Or somebody will be along to tell you more than I can.
