"After my boat has set for 2 years, I rebuilt the carbs last night and took it out for a test today. It would run very rough and bog down and die...If i did get it to run up on plane it was not full speed and would ocillate like it was running out of gas...the top cylinder was getting intermittent spark...before I let it set up for 2 years it was running well, and I had just replaced the coils and powerpack...
After diagnosing the top cylinder with no spark I knocked on the powerpack with a hammer (light strikes) and the cylinder would kick in briefly and full power would be restored until up on plane and then it would again become intermittent.
My question is could there be any other issues here? Hitting it with a hammer directly on the spot for the wire going to the top cylinder coil had a repeated and obvious effect...could there just be a bad connection with a trigger wire there, or does that sound like a bad powerpack?
