Having troubles keeping my outboard running ive been working on it the past few days im used to working on OMC
my motor has good compression has spark the motor runs for about 20 seconds then cuts out it loses its prime immediately ive put new lines connecters and prime bulb and has done nothing so now im wondering is it the fuel pump ? are the pumps on these kind of motors located on the side of the carbs ?
i dont think it is my inlet that the fuel connects to as i havent seen any leaks i orderd some carb kits :

im just not sure where the fuel pump is located and the best way to test it on this particular motor

any help would be appreciated !!

and ive looked up the serial number of the boat cant really find a year on it
the starter has a date of 1975 on it so im thinking the motor is a 1975 or 78

the serial number is : 4361213

4357640 thru 4576236 were 1976 models - follow the fuel line from the disconnect and it should go into a pump on the side of the block fuel-pumps75.jpgif not it will lead into the side of the carb(s). That Amazon kit is for a carb mounted FP

ok yes it leads to the side of the carbs so hopefully a rebuild will get the fp working again
My guess is a 1976 model.
ty very helpful guys ! :)

anyone else know what else i should check out before the fp rebuild?

Well rebuilt the carbs/fp and nothing still losing its prime somewhere motor only runs good for about 20 secs then stalls and needs primed to stay running
any help would be appreciated

well i took out the mercury inlet and directly hook the gas to the fuel pumps
and its idle decent just when you throttle the motor up it dies out after awhile

and tips on how to adjust the top carb idle screw? pretty tight fit
