"Starter just replaced...son installed, pretty simple repair. But, reconnected battery terminals in reverse, neg to pos, etc..and cranked. Got it back right and starter turns great. But no spark. Wont fire. Someone said stator? Not well versed but is there something to look at that may be obvious before spending bucks at repair shop? Carbs seems to be getting plenty of gas. Thanks for ANY help on this,"

"ANY help would really be appreciated. Im trying to learn more about this engine and hopefully tend to this myself. Seems from searching on here that if no spark, I need to test coil first and current to dist.?. If coil is indeed okay, would ignition switch be place to turn first? What would you guys suggest as the order of checking things out. This engine ran great when it was put up. Is it possible fuel sitting in lines last few months(last run in January and dont THINK he winterized but it was kept in warm garage)...would fuel destabilized perhaps foul enough to cause no fire and if so, how woiuld I go about getting that resolved. You guys on here are certainly knowledgeable and I know Im sound like some idiot asking a bunch of dumb questions, but I sure would appreciate your help and be grateful for it. Thanks!"
