1975 merc 1150 how to jump start

hey guys! Today i have installed a starter wich came from my busted 1985 merc 115hp. now i dont have any remote control and i was wondering how i could jump start to test out if everything is ok spark and all whitout giving in fuel. should i tap in the pos from the battery onto the yellow wire straitght on the starter.

Safest way is to hook the red cable to where the battery cable goes on the starter, and jump the wire that engages the solenoid.

can i bust the selenoid if i dont jump the right ones?

thanks a lot for the help did it and worked so far might have to change all wiring.
