1975 Johnson Fuel Leak

Hello,

I have a fuel leak on a 1975 johnson outboard. Model: 50ESL75B, Serial: 64272376.

It looks like the hose that comes off the fuel filter and then connects to the motor is leaking where it connects to a little piece that goes into the motor. The black hose looks wet there. Does it just need a new hose clamp or could it leak out of the top of that little piece that goes into the motor? What is that part? I had the motor on the lake yesterday and now their is a little pool of fool in the bottom of the engine compartment.

Thanks!

there is an o-ring in that little connector that comes from the tank or filter..the o-ring is replaceable but i would not bother..the connector isnt that expensive...there is a groove in the pin that the connector slides onto..make sure that little spring loaded lever snaps into that groove or it will leak...some times it takes a little persuading to get it on right...both the seat and the plastic connector have to be clean or it will not seat properly...another indication of it not being seated properly is you will be running along at full tilt and the carbs will run dry and the boat will just set down in the water..

i should have said at full speed and not full tilt....am bad a bout the use of slang me...

I noticed where the drip was today. There's a little gold pin that sticks out of the front of the motor, down by the bottom of the engine compartment near the front, but behind the idler controls etc. Basically, it's pretty straight below the connector we discussed above -- but I think if it was leaking out of the connector that it wouldn't be able to run down to this golden pin that it is dripping from. Right now I don't even have the fuel line connected to the engine. Can it leak out of that pin? Or is it running down from somewhere else?

Thanks!

it should not leak anywhere....the float seals off the carb input and the the primer bulb will get hard and the system should be closed and hold ....
