1975 Johnson 85hp

Hi , I have a Johnson 85hp which runs very good. Yesterday when returning to the ramp the engine started revving and not going anywhere. To me it was like the clutch slipping in a car , it was propelling on idle . Any ideas would be appreciated. Thankyou.

Thanks again racerone . I changed prop and got on the water yesterday and all was good. Can the props be rebuilt ?

They can be rehubbed. Depending on your location, there might be a nearby prop shop. Or, there are on-line places you can send it out to. You will have to weigh the cost compared with replacing it. After evaluating the overall general condition, that is.
