wondering if anyone has any advice on replacing all the gaskets on the powerhead. does the set come with all needed gaskets? see some that say less head gasket, is that the only gasket thats missing in the set? should i apply anything to the gaskets and bolt for better sealing? also, does anything else need to be replaced since it's torn down? like any seals on the bottom of powerhead and top of exhaust housing, bearing seals or the upper seal on camshaft? i appreciate any feedback, since i'm sure i will overlook something.

Contents of sets may vary between suppliers. If doing a complete re-seal, that should even include the crank shaft seals. Use Sealing Compound on all screws and gaskets (unless gasket is stamped 'no sealant'), less in-take gaskets.

Sealant or no-sealant on head gaskets is an ever on-going discussion. However it all depends on the gasket itself. The original types did not have any form on 'sealant' applied, and the use of sealant was recommended. Some used Sealing Compound (Loctite/Permatex Aviation), some simply coated them with oil. The main goal whatever method is used is to prevent water, mainly salt water, to fill the casting pours in the sealing surface. Newer gaskets will sealant factory applied, have this function built in and applying sealant on these gaskets will ruin this function! At the end, it all depends on which types of gaskets are in the kits, it may vary between suppliers. The 'cheaper' the kits, the more important to be observant!!
