1975 Johnson 135 acceleration problems.

I recently aquired a 1975 Johnson 135. Drained old fuel and added fresh. The motor starts, idles, and shifts gears just fine. When you go from idle speed to accelerate, soon as you speed up enought to leave a wake the motor bogs up and dies. Doesn't matter if the engine is cold or warm, same thing. The previous owner said it ran fine last summer (2014) but had been sitting ever since. I am thinking clogged jets in carb maybe? Anyone have some ideas?

im no expert and fairly new to working on marine motors but that would sound like fuel starvation to me or a possable a dodgy coil

I thought about that but the bulb stays hard and I can't find any leaks so unless it is a clog in the line, ??? Gonna tear into it this afternoon. I work long night hours so weekend is only chance I get to work on it. Hopefully I get it cause I want to fish out of it some before it gets to cold.

Kim, good point about hoses. Ethanol can play a number on hoses not rated for it. Use USCG approved hoses rated for ethanol. Worth the extra cost.
