My 1975 70 hp evinrude runs great for about 10 minutes and then it suddenly dies. Won't start for anything. 3 to 5 hrs later------it starts and runs for another 10 to 15 minutes. HELP

"When it dies out, is the engine seized? If not, remove the spark plugs, then check for spark that should jump a 7/16" gap with a strong blue lightning like flame... a real SNAP!

If no spark, look under the flywheel to see if the stator assy might be melting a sticky substance down on the timer base and block. If this is the case, replace the stator.

Tried the stator. No go

Tried the stator. No go or spark. Put in a used power pack. It seems to correct the problem. Will report back next weekend when I go to the cottage and give it a good wookout.
