I have a boot for the water in

I have a boot for the water intake but there is another port above the ones on the bottom. Does this motor have two water intake ports? Does the lower half of the motor have to be submerged? Any answers are greatly appreciated.

Where is El P when you need hi

Where is El P when you need him- I believe that the top set of screens was for a pressure relief of the coolant system.

Yes the lower must be in the water to feed the water pump correctly. You can also get a flush attachment for running off the garden hose.

"By "boot", I assume y

"By "boot", I assume you mean a Ear Muff type flushette? The water intake is the screened area just above the propshaft area.

Again, I assume that the mention of "another port" are the holes/slots just above and to the rear of the cavitation plate? If so, those are water outlets that allow water to flow out when the thermostat open.

If running without a flushette, the lower unit must be submerged to a point whereas the mating joint (lower unit to long exhaust housing) has water approximately 3" above it."
