"I am learning maybe more than I wanted to know about 2-cycle outboards, trying to resurrect an engine out of storage. Thanks to this group I haave cleaned carbs, #2 had float stuck wide open and disintegrated gasket. Finally got it started but has no idle and linkage seems a little screwy.
Also checked compression, #1 150, #2 135, #3 125 think there is head gasket problem? Will this cause ldle issues?"

"w/25psi diff, there's something going on...i would try a decarb first---frees up,sticking rings..u really need a factory service manual to help w/all the link and sync adjustments...u may do a decarb 2-3 times to help it.."

"Thanks, JWB I didn't even think of stuck rings, that would go along with setting up. I have a factory manual on order. Would you mind pointing in the right direction to de-carbon?"

"Guys I thank you for your input, ran engine with seafoam, followed instructions smoke all over the neighborhood but with each passing minute the engine ran better. Now I have to rebuild #1 carb, and I will move on to getting linkage working correctly."

"OK I now have an update, the seafoam improved the running, I cleaned all three carbs, they were pitiful. Cranked it up ran it on the muffs for a while, remove the spark plugs, checked the compression #1 150, #2 120 #3 145. I think tomorrow evening another dose of seafoam.

the linkage issue is another matter I know forward, neutral, reverse, but I do not have a fast idle is this a linkage adjustment or a remote failing? Also I can start in any position. Any suggestions?"
