I have a 1975 evenrude 85 h/p

I have a 1975 evenrude 85 h/p The lower unit is chipping gears and I have a good lower unit off a 1976 135 johnson and was wondering what to expect in performance wise when I change them out.
I knoe the gear ratio of the 85 h/p but not the 135. I do know that my 85 would out torque the 135 with the same prop and boat size so any info would be appericated.

"I had a very close look at the parts lists for both lower units. Although they list as "different" part numbers for the complete assembly, I could only find 1 different part in the exploded views.

They both have exactly the same gears etc so the swap should be a direct bolt up without issue.

I believe the one difference was a bearing carrier (can't remember for sure).

Other than that - the same OEM props were available for both models, so no issue there either - besides the prop should be matched to your entire set-up, the motor is but one small consideration when selecting a prop."
