I rebuilt the carbs on this engine and finally got it started. This required full throttle and chock and once warmed starts with a bump of the key, unlike it;s previous behavior which was much more difficult on the restart.
The rebuild kets were a bit off and the float bowl needle valve included is the type requiring a slot in the float hinge that will positively pull and push the needle in and out. The originals simply drop by there own weight. The new ones, in their new seats also would not move freely enough so I used the new seats with the old needles. OK, I probably did a dumb s### move there but the needle valve angle appeared identical and I thought maybe it would work.
Symptoms: Number one fires well. Numbers two fires intermittently and three didn't appear to fire at all. I determined this through pulling the wires one at a time and also discovered the all three wires have a very good spark.
I did replace the plugs one at a time with a fresh gapped plug and found no change.
My next move is likely to drop this boat with a good mechanic but if anyone has a good idea I am open t suggestions.
Thanks
