"The tilt motor will run just

"The tilt motor will run just for a few seconds and stops, both up and down. I can hear a click in the unit and the motor will run again for a few seconds. The unit will eventually tilt full cycle and engine tilts free when the cylinders are disconnected. The system does not bleed down.
I've had the engine since '88 and has alway done this. I change the oil yearly and have overhauled the trim cylinder and resealed the tilt.

The motor has a thermal overlo

The motor has a thermal overload switch.The motor is drawing high amperage thus tripping the bi-metallic switch.Fix it or live with it.

Does this mean the motor is problem or the switch? The mechanical load on the system is free.
Is it a big job to go into the pump assembly? I have the shop manual, but not sure of pitfalls or if parts are available.

"Check the BRP website, then check with a local dealer to see if parts are still available.Also there are two types of pump / motor set-ups.The high amperage is likely due to a faulty motor.Take it apart and test and test again."
