I've checked the spark and its good in all 4 cylinders. I have 150 lbs compression, give or take a pound or 2, in all cylinders. I rebuilt the fuel pump. I had both carbs rebuilt bt a Mercury dealer. My gas is new and mixed properly with the right oil. The primer pump on the gas tank is good. I have 4 new plugs. All the plug wires are in good shape. The #1 cylinder is all the way up when the pointer at the flywheel points at the mark. I can't time it because I can't get it started to use a timing light. I'm out of ideas, does anyone know anything else I can do?

Did someone have the flywheel apart?-------Does rotor point to the correct terminal in the cap when #1 is at TDC ?

No-one has had the flywheel off. I'll have to check and make sure the rotor is towards the #1 clylinder at TDC. Thanks

You CAN time it with a light. Take the plugs out, ground them to the block, and hook up the timing light. With the throttle wide open, crank her over and see where you are. I'll bet the distributor is off a tooth or so.

PS: When you get her running again, time it with the motor running since it will be different.
