1974 Johnson 135hp overheating.

Changed water pump impellor and plates on above, did a static test and all was good as was the test run on water. Had to do a little more to the gearbox that I was not happy about and dropped it, did what I had to. Static test run again went well, but on the water it overheated in neutral, but in gear all was good at all speeds,temp around F140+/- 10,stopped an at idle temp shot up alarmingly quickly. Checked inlet for blockage all ok, got home and flushed through, no problems. Very limited to what I can do on the water a there are crocs in the water here and am VERY uncomfortable about doing anything at waters edge!!
