Hello fellas, I’ve got a 1974 9.9 that my buddy gave to me and I got it running pretty decent. Replaced the impeller because the old one was shot. It had sat outside under a tree for a number of years and figured it needed it and turned out it did. I replaced the thermostat and the water cover gasket and also pulled the motor completely out and replaced the grommet on the water tube. All the passages are clear but I’m still not getting water out of the discharge hole with muffs or in a bucket of water. And yes the impeller is on correctly and has the key in it. I am also new to boating but it was a free motor and I said heck I’ll giver it a shot.
