i bought a used motor about three years ago. and this summer is the first time i have been able to try and get it running. i saw it run in a tank when i bought it but that was all i knew. so first off i took the carbs off and cleaned everything in them. replaced plugs, and check the impeller. also a new fuel line and cleaned the filter on the pump. i took it out on the water and it kinda ran but not very good, so then i started reading around to see what could be going on. turns out i had a bad coil, replaced the number 2 coil and now i can get it up out of the water. i have been trying to get it timed but i can't really find a honest way to do it. wot i run max of 4400 rpm and idle I'm at about 1000. i don't know where i should be and at idle it can be a pain to start once it has been warm and then sat while fishing, but cold it starts great, and also it is sluggish getting out of the water. also i replaced the rectifier, tested the power pack, tested triggers and stator. so I'm looking for a little advice of where to go next.
