"I just got my recently purcha

"I just got my recently purchased motor out of the shop and mechanic said it runs but not good. I took it home and put it in my barrel and messed with it and found that it runs just fine slow or fast as long as the couling is off. When I clamp down the cowling it starts smoking bad and loading up like it was choked. When I remove the cowling it will take about 30 seconds to clear out and then runs ok. The cowling doesn't let in enough air. What could be the problem. I removed the little 1 inch rubber plug down in front of carb but that didn,t help."

"not from where i was referring to...about the only place i can think of ,off hand,would be a leaking powerhead gasket,or exhaust gasket...either of those,and you would see an obvious leak tho."

to jwbmarine From Max Carey.. I think I have found the problem with my engine loading up with the couling on. I was running it in a 55gal. barell and the engine is real low profile and was picking up exaust fumes from the barell. I took it out of the barell and attached my garden hose adapter and the engine seems to run just fine. Thanks so much for your help and GOD BLESS! Max.

I guess it pays to have nearly

I guess it pays to have nearly 40 years of experience.Although advizing people via this forum does not have nearly the finacial benefits as my regular job.
 
1976 9.9 evinrude bogs down ab

1976 9.9 evinrude bogs down above 75percent throttle.it starts and runs fine until you open it up then you have to pull the choke out about halfway or it bogs down. thanks
