"Need a crank, connecting rod and bearings for my 1974 70hp Evinrude. Suggestions on where to find the best priced parts? Also, how many years was the 1974 Evinrude the same motor to help in my search for used parts?"

"those parts were the same for many yrs,u would just have to spend some time researching.......but just for conversation--- i would look at--74 up for matching parts...numbers couuld have also changed, but be the same part."

"ebay,..is a good source.... another,is stone and sons in houston,....also,those are common parts,..do a search ,for outboard eng rebuilders and go from there..."

"I think the only difference between the 74-78 70hp and the 72-73 65hp is the piston diameter!

I've been trying to find any other differences in my Seloc manual and I haven't found any!!

I have a Complete '73 65hp with one dead piston due to water. It cranks over and the rods are all intact! If you can research this and verify if they will fit, we can make a deal!!"

I just verified part numbers o

I just verified part numbers on the crankshaft and rods/bearings........they are the same!

'72-73 65hp
'74-78 70hp

everything but the pistons/rings

"Thanks for the note Joe. I found a parts motor for $50. Got my rod, reed assembly and bolts I needed but crank was shot. Still having a problem deciding what to do about a new crank. Used? Rebuilt I hear is an option for $360 but? Prices vary widely for use cranks but?? Got a good crank? Pictures?"

"My motor is Model #70443M, Serial #C68662, part number I keep seeing is 0317160. From my research the 72-73' 65 hp, 76-82' 70 to 75 hp all had this crank. Mine has a 4 spline hole at the bottom. Got one? Rebuilt or used? Is one better than the other?"

"I have one from a 73 65hp.

"I have one from a 73 65hp.

I just need to remove it from the motor, it's coming out of my spare. Sucked some water up so I purchased it as a spare motor for parts on mine. I put the lower unit on mine as it looked 10 years newer than mine! Motor turns over with no problems so I'm sure it's ok considering what the cause of death was :D

I'm in Colorado, where would it need to be shipped to? We'll have to figure out how much it weighs and I'll pretty much send it to you for the cost of shipping and a bottle of JW Black label!!

Let me know........"

Agreed.... Prefer good used to

Agreed.... Prefer good used to rebuilt crank. Sorry to say that I do not have any of those crankshafts left.

"Hey Paul,
If your crank is good I may be interested. I'm in Canada but shipping should be no problem. If you get it yanked out send me a picture or two so I can see the surfaces of the crank where the connecting rods attach. Also, 4 spline hole on the bottom?"
