I am looking at a 65hp Merc that is reasonable.
Any history on this unit?

Personally, I don't think much of them. Merc did a lot of good things with their inline motors, but the 3-cylinder models weren't one of them. They have three cylinders fed off of two carbs and no two cylinders ever seem to get the right mix. I've seen a number of them blown up, usually the top cylinder. If you want something in that hp range, go for an OMC 3-cylinder 70 or 75hp. They're a loop scavenged motor and are very good on gas. Probably one of the best motors ever made (from about 1977 onwards).
