My outboard doesn't seem to be getting any fuel. I rebuilt the carb and I can crank it over but it doesnt seem to be getting fuel to the float bowl because I can remove the screw out of the bottom and no fuel comes out. I can spray a little starting fluid into the carb and it will fire but otherwise will not. Any info is appreciated because I am totally stumped. Thanks in advance,Barry:confused::confused:

Remove that drain screw and pump the primer bulb.------Fuel should pour out.---If not.-------Check arrow on bulb and check hose connections on the fuel pump.---------Check and see if fuel comes out of the hose where it goes to the pump too.

I removed the fuel line at the carb and tried starting the engine and fuel came up through the fuel line. I held my finger over the end of the fuel line as it didn't have enough pressure to push my thumb off the fuel line. I an not sure how much fuel pressure it should have at the fuel line going into the carb.

What is left to clean? I spray carb cleaner through the float bowl drain hole and through the float needle and carb cleaner goes through it just fine.

????---You are not getting fuel in the carburetor you say !-------You are having trouble with your motor.---------If you brought it to a shop they would say.----------" Easy to fix "

I am just not sure what I haven't cleaned good that would be causing it. Is there any way it could be in my fuel pump?

When you operate the primer bulb the fuel goes right through that pump on the motor.------Check all your hoses.----Run to a friend with a motor and borrow his / her tank for testing purposes !!!

Such a simple thing to diagnose. Disconnect the hose from the carburetor and give the primer bulb a squeeze. Does gas come out the hose? If it does, you know it is getting that far. And if it is getting that far, but won't flow into the float bowl, something in there is stopping it. The logical thing would be the float valve. You will have to go in to find out what it is.

And while you're in there ,clean the carb properly By soaking in carb cleaner overnight, washing thoroughly in hot soapy water and blow dry, remove welch plug and make sure all tiny low speed channels are clear, check the packing and renew and/or add to and retighten to spec(1 1/2 turns out from lightly seated) and you should be good to go.
