1973 murcury 500 50hp HELP!!!

Took apart lower unit on my mercury 500 50hp when lower unit dropped the shift shaft didnt come with it. How do i get it out please help?!?! Would aprreciate anything

Huh? It broke off and is stuck in the power head?
