1973 johnson 4hp

i have a 1973 johnson 4hp. while running the engine skips and misses. it is only running on 1 cylinder. while it is running i took the plugwire off the top plug and the engine died. when i took the wire off the bottom plug nothing happened. i took off the flywheel and swapped the coils to see if i had a bad coil but the problem did not change so the coils are good. then i filed down the poiter ythatnts and gapped them at .020. after that the engine ran a little better but it still skipped. after running it for a little while the bottom plug stopped firing again. so it is just running off of the top cylinder. Any advice?

you need to put a complete tune up kit in her. that should fix the no spark problem. part number 172522
