Hey everyone brand new to this site and too boating in general as a whole. Picked up a 1973 imp inca cabin cruiser that sat for years after somebody dropped a 305 chevy small block in it. Boat and trailer are in good condition i just want to make sure the motor runs before I start restoring it to modern day things. The voltage regulator has a black and orange and a purple wire that aren't hooked up where do the go? Also where do I find an adapter for my raw water intake for this sterndrive it has. Sample hole under the exhaust port not like a muff system? And anything else I should check or worry about before trying to run this to test it. I'm sure it's annoying new people like this but I could use any help I could get none of the marine shops around here know about this old of a boat. And anything will help me in my learning process. Thanks

my guess on the first one is that someone replaced the original alt with one that has an internal reg, but just a guess

On the adapter thing, just install a $5 rad flushing tee in the hose between the drive and t-stat housing. You can connect the garden hose to that and turn it on full to wet the impeller and feed the engine.
