1973 Evinrude 135 Gasket Question

Just finished the paint job & am putting this motor back together. On the underside of the adapter there is a gasket to seal the water tubes and inner exhaust housing. There is not, however, a gasket shown to seal the adapter to the outer exhaust housing. I put these parts together last night, and I'm now wondering if I messed up. Should I have made a gasket to give a better seal? Or, at the very least, used metal to metal sealer there? Should I pull it back apart for a fix, or am I over thinking this? Thanks, Geezer.

From what I can see, there is supposed to be Gel Seal in there. I'm not sure about the older models, but the newer ones (1990's) used it.

Thanks for the reply, Bill. It looked to me like the later models actually used a gasket, so, I made a gasket & installed it. Geezer.
