"Hello, I have been reading these forums for a few days now and have found a lot of good info I needed. I inherited a 18ft razorback boat with a 115hp evinrude model 115393. The boat and engine have been in a barn since 1974. The outboard was bought new in 1973 and ran for less than 3 hrs before it was stored in the barn. Well I now have the boat out and cleaned up. I have read some great threads here and was able to figure out what to do to get it started. On my very first attempt it cranked over about tree time and fired right up. My question is where does the water come out while it is running? I remember as a kid my dad had a outboard that would "pee" out water when he had the muffs on. I did not see this one "pee". There are two holes I see that some water is splashing out but not streaming out. Any help would be great.

"On that model, the water would be exiting out thru the propeller hub. When in the water, usually water will also exit out the holes just below the rear portion of the powerhead.

To check to see if the overheat horn is functional, have the key in the ON position, then ground one of the TAN overheat sensor wires that you'll see exiting the cylinder heads. The horn should sound. If it does not, find out why as that's the only warning you'll receive if the engine should start to overheat."

"Thanks for the info Joe. All I did was change the gear oil and put new spark plugs. I barrowed a battery from a friend and used one of my one gallon gas can mixed 50 to 1. I was excited that it fired up so easy. I am going to put some new trailer lights on, change the tires, install new steering and hit the lake."
