Hello everyone,
My 1973 85hp mercury outboard keeps having issues with the electrical and I believe it’s shorting out. The reason for this is I just built a new wiring harness for it and i believe I hooked it up right but when I go to turn the key I get a mixed reaction. Sometimes a click, sometimes the starter engages but only turns a little, sometimes nothing at all. But every time the ground cable on my battery starts to smoke. So if anybody has any tips on what could be wrong that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
