1973 85 hr Johnson

I have 1973 85hr johnson,i just got the boat and im slowly finding my way around the motor. the problem im haveing is that i cant get one of my cyclenders to fire. now i have checked a bunch of things, i know my spark plugs,spark plug lines, and my coil packs are good. now im tracing it back to my guess 1 of 2 things, the power pack or my stator now i pulled my power pack and found some corrosion,i have a new one on order. i hope this problem dosent lead back to my stator. so my question is dose any one have an idea on what could being going on from the coils up to the stator that would cause one not to fire?

drew you could use your motor as a ancor.or scrap it for metal.and as for the boat you could burn it this winter at my house and cook hotdogs over it
 
I used to fix my parents old Johnsons and had similar problems. If you could start them once they got above 3000RPM all cylenders worked. Never could figure out the problems.I felt it was in the fuel system to the cylender that was not working but could never figure it out. How is the compression in each cylender.

Tony48.... Apparently you and Drew are using the same computer at the moment so I assume that the two of you are fairly close as you state. However, your statement came across as stupid and insulting due to the fact that it could have come in from anyone, anywhere even though it came thru under the member name of tony48 (hackers). It would have helped if you identified yourself somewhat as a family member and possibly added a smiley :) here and there.

Boatbickle, in my opinion reacted accordingly. We try to do our members a service and take a dim view of slams of any kind being directed at one with problems. Obviously (now), we know that is not the case (in your case) but not being clairvoyant, we had no way of knowing that previously. So...... is Drew planning on burning the boat and cooking hot dogs this winter :), or shall we continue to find a solution to the problem :) ?
 
ya i am sorry allso after understandind you all had no clue that he was family. it came across rude if i was just to throw some remark out there like that.and joe like i said i would never diss this site in that manner.so are we all friends again.and as for drews 85 hp i think we have it down to the power pack being the culprit. he ordered one so time will tell.so there will be no hot dogs being cooked.i turned drew on to this site last week and as myself injoy it kind of mantown on the computer. but drew is a lost wonder so again i am soory.
