1973 65hp Evinrude Rectifier

Hi,,,,If the battery gets connected backwards on this engine will it puff the rectifier??

Rectifiers do not like that treatment !

Thanks for the reply. Here's a follow question.....will a defective tach puff a rectifier as well??
