1972 omc 165 hp intermediate ball gear

hi guys, i have an 72 omc 165 horse electric shift stringer. im in need of an intermediate side ball gear/shaft. i was on a couple websites (boats.com, shopevinrude) there are 2 part numbers for these, (s and c model) i have the c model which is 1,200 dollars and the s is 300. what is the difference between the 2????. does any one have a decent part laying around and would like to sell. 1200 is a little too much for an old boat. thanks

Call Buds marine in Eugene Oregon or Sunrise Shipwreck Marine in Sacramento Calif. They will definitely have what you are looking for may be used parts but they have them Let me know if you find what you need.
 
You have a latter model shaft, 20 splines. You need to look for one with those splines count.

The original is 25 spline count, with a matching coupler.

So say 79-86

Ebay has a few right now.
