Wondering if anyone can help with the following: Listed outboard is stuck in forward and i am unable to turn the handle back to shift to attempt to change from forward, neutral, and reverse. Please help with any suggestions to fix this problem.

Perhaps you need to turn the throttle handle to slow / idle so that it can be shifted with the lever.---It has an interlock feature.

OK stupid question? Do I need the engine to be running to do any shifting? It is stuck in forward sitting in the garage.

OK I have tried spinning the fly wheel and turning the throttle on the tiller with no luck it will only turn between start and fast!

2 years. It ran and shifted last year. I found out my son has been playing with it. i caught him moving the shifting lever up and down about a month ago and just today went to get it running and found it is stuck in forward. KIDS!!

Actually, it is quite simple. The idle speed knob is set too high to allow backing off on the throttle to the shift zone. Back off on the idle speed knob. (It's the knob on the side where the tiller arm swings up (elbow)).
