1972 Johnson 6HP troubleshooting

Hey all, I recently starting working on a 1972 Johnson 6HP. I would like to ask a few questions about some issues I am running into.

First off, when I get the motor started, she runs great! But only for about 6 or 7 seconds, and with the choke on. I have adjusted the rich/lean idle screw to factory recommendation, but the motors still dying out.

Secondly, I have an oil/fuel mix coming out of the underwater exhaust? Is this a sign of something majorly wrong with it?

I plan on rebuilding the carb (and fuel pump if needed), can anyone tell me where I can find parts for these motors? Thanks everyone for your input.

Those are excellent motors , built for many years.--------Most good dealers will have parts in stock as well.--------------Having to use the choke indicates carburetor problems.-----Check the thermostat as I find many of them " failed open " resulting in poor idling.--------------There is an orifice in the carburetor bowl and all the fuel for both high and low speed operation goes through it.------------Remove it and clean it !--------The oil mix coming out of the engine is very common for a 2 stroke.
