I have a 100ESL72R that I have been working on for a month or more. It has a new pluse pack and sensor. After I replaced those parts, the motor ran ok but wouldn't take full throttle but ran for about a hour and then just shut down. I brought back to my shop and the coil, which came with the new pluse pack, was shorted out. I installed the old one and was back on the water again, but still not at full throttle, it seemed that the plugs were fowling out because the motor was skipping. I ordered a new coil and installed it and replaced the spark plugs.
I put back in water and was running pretty well, still can't get to full rpms, not sure how many because the tach neddle is stopping at 2000. After a short time it starts skipping again and won't take the fuel again. So I start to move the key switch around and accidently turn it off. The motor does not stop but clears up, not skipping, and will now take full throttle and runs to full rpm's!! So I think the switch has been the problem the entire time. I jump out wiring around switch and return to water.

I reinstalled the old coil and still no spark. The pluse pack will light a test light when cranking without the coil connected. I doubt all 3 coils are bad unless something is taking them out. What are your thoughts????
