Hi everyone
I've got 2 questions... I'm running my engine with 0ctane 92 cause lower octane such as 87 or 89 are E10 and E5 so is there any danger for the motor ? Second thing, can a coil could be intermittant like running good for 30 min an then stop working for 15 min and then kicking back on ? Tx in advance for any help.

No that's good for your motor, avoid ethanol, good plan. I just finished repairing a 1985 Evinrude 25, all the hoses and rubber gaskets/pump diaphragm were destroyed the cowling insulation was AFU and getting sucked into the carb which is wide open on this model. The guy was a bit upset at my scolding, but learned his lesson as he got "spanked" with a 250 dollar bill. Coils will act differently at certain temperatures, but I might not expect this is your problem unless you confirm for me a spark loss when it's hot.

Your confirming what I read about Ethanol. I'm checking out about firing issues. Tx

Stator coils melting? Water ingestion into a cylinder? Both are common problems with the '72.

When I bougth the boat the guy has change two coils out of 3... and I guess i'm having issues with the one that havent been replace cause spark plug is as clean as its cumming out of package ( when not running properly ). And exhaust gaskets has also been replaced. I will order another coil and take it from there I guess ?
