looking to tryingg to start this engine looking for help i think its the carburetor that the fuel wont go all the way to it

OK,-------Then what happens when you pour a wee bit of fuel into the carburetor ?------------How long have you owned this motor ?-----------Possible that it sat for many, many years ?--------------Check and see if spark jumps a gap of 1/4" or more.

Can I add wd40 to I racer or will that hurt it and the pull rope is stuck or something I think really won't start it so Idk were to start or anything it go new spark plugs and I think the carb

Pull the hex drain plug out of the bottom of the carburetor and see if fuel runs out. Then squeeze the primer bulb to see if more runs out. If it passes the tests, fuel is getting to the carburetor. That doesn't mean it is through the carburetor (main jet). Also, is it really fuel or water? Or gunked up crud.

????---------It was explained that it is a hex head drainplug on the float bowl of the carburetor.--------------Put a 7/16" wrench in your hand and look for that drain plug !

well I just found one with a rubber plug in it and took it out and it didn't do anything at all so the float bowl isn't even near the carb to begin with

Amen, good luck

I lost a bolt in my Johnson 9.5. Essentially the same motor as yours. Disconnect the fuel line at the motor. Take the motor cover off, remove the engine from your boat/bench or where ever you have it mounted. Grasp the carry handle with your strong hand, use your weak hand to guide your motor upside down. Now bear hug hug it and shake hard up and down. Do this over a light blanket or sheet so you can see the parts you shake out.
My motor was hard to start when I got it. I had to rebuild the carb. Fairly simple to do on these motors. I also replaced the fuel pump. The carbs on the Johnson/Evinrude 9.5's are very finicky and have to be clean. Especially the high speed jet.

The Carb repair kit is is available and is part number 0382048 for $30.00 which is a great price for what you get.

So basically i think this engine is crude because i can never get it to do anything correct so idk what to do with it or how to really fix it

You need to invite a friend over that is somewhat knowledgeable of outboards... otherwise you're simply going to screw things up worse. No offense intended.

hasn't ran at all since the last time itryed it it completely stalled and went out since I didn't have it in water so idk paratrooperamd joe

If you are lucky, you ruined the impeller. But looking back in the thread you stated the rope was hard to pull, that leads me to think you overheated the power head and it is seized or worse. Never run a outboard out of water.

You have two options in my opinion. First is find someone near you who repairs older outboards and see what the cost will be. 2nd option is to list motor as a parts motor and cut your losses.

idk it its the power head unit ill have to completely take it apart and check it out i think it may or could be impeller not sure what it is need to look into it more and stuff

i hope something goes right idk it still wont budge though so idk ill have to look at it more but how fast would a 9.4 hp engine go
