Hi - fuel is leaking where outlet hose (connected from fuel pump to carburetor) is connected to the fuel pump. Engine won’t start. Replaced fuel pump with new one and same thing is happening. Any advice? Thx!!!

Is this a 4 hp or 125 HP ?----Model # is ?-----What trouble shooting have you done for the ---" no start " ---condition?

Hi, thanks so much for the reply.

Here’s more history…

- it’s the 4hp. serial begins with 6202D
- fell into fresh water lake with bad weather while we were away from our cottage. More details here, but yes lesson learned and annoying.
- full gear oil change, carb blown out with air, spark plugs changed, drained out water wherever possible, oil added/sprayed inside engine to avoid rust
- engine started, but power was intermittent and stalling occured.
- Saw gas leak, tried rebuilding/cleaning gas pump, but no luck. Purchased new fuel pump.
- installed punp. Started easily off of boat with good power.
- Installed on boat and now won’t not
start.
- using metal gas tank. Recently purchased new hose. Added seafoam and oil to fuel in proper ratio.

- note - not a mechanic by any stretch, but eager and experienced DIY’r on many fronts .. until I can’t figure things out like now. Trying to fix in partnership with my 15 year old.

thank you again!!

Sparkplugs are not used when putting the magneto to a proper test.----If you have weak spark you will get a good workout on your arm starting this motor.

Just 2 pieces of wire glued onto carboard.----Put a 1/4" gap between them.----Stick one end in plug boot.----Clip other end to engine ground.

Buy a $10 air gap tester, or make something out of scraps, like this,

Hi, I was able to make something as described above.

I put one open wire into wire boot, used alligator plug to attach other wire to spark plug that was screwed into engine.

Result:
- top wire spark jumps .25”
- bottom wire spark does not.

- engine turned a bit without gas tank hooked up
- engine would not start with gas tank hooked up.

Advice on next steps?

Thank you again

You should see a blue white spark you can actually hear snap.
The fact that you have no spark at all on the one cylinder is your first step to address
