Hello all,
I am new here and i have some questions. first off i am a "mechanic" (and i use the term loosly) with the coast guard, and i am used to trouble shooting newer engines. so anyway i got a chrysler outboard for free, and i figured why not try and get it running. It is a 1972 chrysler magnapower 1307HA. I already compression tested, checked for fuel and other things, and have determined that it has no spark and the culpret seems to be the ignition coil and CD box. Now i have looked at the replacement parts and spending $200+ is not my idea of a cheap toy, and looking around i have seen that some have retro-fitted these motors with a automotive coil. I was looking for some tips on how to do this. Like i said, im what the coast guard calls a mechanic, so i'm pretty good with most stuff but not so good with electrical: hence why im asking you folks.
Thanks in advance.
